Like we mentioned in our previous blog post, the American BMX Company has been putting an extra emphasis on R&D while working with our engineering mastermind Marc Cote to push our products to the next level. The Race Inc Elite LT is designed and built with stiffness and weight in mind (yes, we know the original Elite was a little heavy) While the first edition Elite frame is still the recommended frame for our bigger & stronger riders looking for optimal stiffness, the all new Elite LT is TWITCHY. We used our top secret training facility and state of the art lasers (our local BMX track with Sqorz timing system) to get data you'll see below.
We chose to use only the hill timers and full lap timers. Using these points for our data shows just how light and explosive the frame is on the start and how rigid and stiff the frame is around the track.
These times were an average of our best 3 hill times and best 3 full lap times on each set up. To keep almost all variables the same we made sure to use the exact same drive train set up on both bikes.
Original Race Inc Elite w/ 44-16 & Sprag Ghostworks Hub by Cook Bros Racing
~30 foot Avg: 1.978
Full lap Avg: 30.578
All New Race Inc Elite LT w/ 44-16 & Sprag Ghostworks Hub by Cook Bros Racing
~30 foot Avg: 1.935
Full lap Avg: 30.509
The Data shows us that the new LT frame gives a roughly ~2.2% difference in hill time and a ~0.23% difference in full lap times at our given test track. To the naked eye this doesn't seem like much but this is a significant improvement in speed and the real noticeable difference is in the feel. The LT frame paired with the instant engagement Cook Bros Ghostworks hub and Featherlight Titanium bars provides a light and stable cockpit with effortless power transfer.
If you don't believe us, just ask Derin Merten! The LT frame has taken her to new heights including UCI BMX World Cup Podiums, a UCI BMX JR Elite World Championship Final, and not to mention a total domination of Tulsa Oklahoma where she won the Women's NAG 5 Challenge, ABA Futures Women Championship, and the legendary Girls National Number 1 Amateur Title. But we won't continue to bore you with big words and fancy race wins.
